Organic Modification of Water Glass and Preparation of Superhydrophobic Coating

Abstract:

Water glass is a kind of widely used material for inorganic coatings. Water glass was modified with methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS), which was used to prepare coating with superhydrophobic property. MTMS was first hydrolysed in water and mixed with diluted glass water(SiO2: Na2O=3.1). Due to the micro separation of water glass and hydrophobic silicone during drying of the mixed solution, a porous rough morphologic surface of the film was formed, which was observed with SEM The static water contact angle was 153°, showing superhydrophobicity.

摘要: 水玻璃是一种常用的无机涂料成分,将水玻璃进行改性得到超疏水性涂层,可以极大地提升传统无机涂料的性能。本研究采用甲基三甲氧基硅烷(MTMS)的水解物与水玻璃进行混合,混合物在干燥过程中亲水性水玻璃成分和疏水性有机硅成分的微相分离,在扫描电镜(SEM)下观察,可以看到所形成的膜具有多孔性微观粗糙形貌,静态水接触角达到 153°,表现出超疏水性。
