Abstract:

In order to improve the anti-friction performance of automatic piston, a WS2/ Sb2 O3 composite coating system has been designed and is sprayed on the surface of the pisto to form the anti-friction coating. The coated and uncoated samples are tested via RETC in terms of the friction coefficient, and comparatively analyzed via finite element analysis in terms of the maximum equivalent stress, deformation and fatigue life. The results show that the fric-tion coefficient of the coated sample is 0. 06 while the uncoated sample is 0. 15. The maximum equivalent stress of the coated sample is 30. 54 MPa lower than that of the uncoated sample. The maximum deformation of the coated sample is 0. 013 545 mm while the uncoated sample is 0.015 627 mm. The minimum life of the coated sample is 35 261 cycles while the uncoated sample is 20 036 cycles. It is indicated that the WS2/Sb2 O3 composite coatings can decrease friction coefficient and improve working performances of the piston.
