Preparation and Applications of Superhydrophilic Self-cleaning Nano-sol Coating

Abstract

To address the persistent challenges of dust and rain droplets adhesion issued onthe surfaces of outdoor sensors and monitoring devices,which compromises their data collection accuracy and reliability,the TiO2 and Al2O3 nanosols were synthesized by hydrolysis reaction,the sols were then mixed in a specific volume ratio and coated onto a transparent substrate using dipcoating or spraying techniques to form a TiO2-Al2O3 composite nanosol coating. The coating with awater contact angle of 7. 4° showed significant anti-reflective effect. Additionally,the coating exhibited resistance to water washing,antistatic properties,and underwater self-cleaning performance. After being placed outdoors for a month,its superhydrophilic performance remained almost unchanged,which indicated the good weather resistance. After 90 days of testing in thesaline marine environment of Dafeng Port area in Yancheng city,the coating showed obvious anti-fouling and self-cleaning performances. These results demonstrated the potential application valueof the TiO2-Al2O3 composite nanosol coating.
