Abstract

[Objective/Significance]Benefiting from their eco-friendly characteristics, excellent comprehensive performances and versatile tunability, waterborne polyurethane-acrylate(PUA)hybridresins have demonstrated significant application potential in the coating field. Reasonable structuraldesign and modification are critical for advancing waterborne PUA coatings towards high-end applications.[Analysis/Discussion/Progress]This review focuses on waterborne PUA resin systems. On the basis of conventional room-temperature crosslinking systems, the design strategies of multiple crosslinking,one-component room-temperature crosslinking, dynamic covalent interactions and microphase separation structure are systematically discussed. More importantly, the roles of structural design in performance optimization and material recycling are elucidated.[Conclusion/Prospect] Precise structural regulation and full-life-cycle green development have become the key priorities fordeveloping waterborne PUA hybrid resins,as well as the critical directions for the high-performanceand sustainable development of waterborne PUA coatings.
