Abstract

[Objective] To address the issue of poor static antifouling effect of traditional antifouling coatings.[Methods] Using tetrabutyl titanate as a catalyst, lactic acid, glycolic acid, caprolactone and 1,4-butanediol were polymerized to synthesize a main-chain-degradable antifoulingresin. The antifouling coating was subsequently prepared from this resin. The structure of the resin wascharacterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FT-IR) The physical properties of the coating, such as drying time, flexibility, and adhesion, were measured..The comprehensive performanceof the coating was systematically evaluated by measureing its copper ion release rate,self-polishingrate,and actual marine antifouling performance.[Results] When lactic acid, glycolic acid and caprolactone were combined in a specific ratio, the resin exhibited optimal performance. The marineantifouling coating formulated from this resin demonstrated excellent adhesion and a stable,long-lasting polishing rate. After a 12-month of shallow-sea hanging plate test, the coating surface showed no obvious marine organism adhesion, demonstrating significant antifouling performance.[Conclusion]The main-chain-degradable marine antifouling coatings developed in this studysuccessfully overcame the limitation of unsatisfactory static antifouling performance in traditional self-polishing coatings. The coatings can be widely used in ships, offshore platform underwater structures, port terminals and other marine installations, indicating broad prospects in the field of marine engineering.
