Abstract

[Objective/Significance]The development of chemically modified high temperatureresistant silicone resin is of great significance to expand its application in specialized high-temperatureresistant coatings.[Analysis/Discussion/Progress] In this paper,three thermal degradationmechanisms of silicone resins were introduced. The research progress in improving the heat resistanceof silicone resins by chemical modification of side chain,end group and main chain in recent years were reviewed in detail,and the advantages and disadvantages of different modification methods were compared. Furthermore,the applications of chemical modified silicone resins in high temperature resistant coatings were reviewed, and the development trend was also prospected.[Conclusion/Prospect]Although the current chemical modified methods still have the disadvantages of complex preparation process,high cost and difficult large-scale production and application,through continuous technological innovation and process optimization,chemical modified silicone resin is expected to play a greater role in the application of special high temperature resistant coatings.
