Abstract

[Objective]To solve the technical challenge of unstable release rate of antifoulingagents in self-polishing antifouling coatings.[Methods]This study designed and prepared a rosin/benzoic acid modified acrylate zinc resin(CTR-Zn50)with synergistic slow-release function.Acrylic acid prepolymers were synthesized by free radical polymerization, and zinc oxide was used as the grafting site to graft benzoic acid and rosin onto the side chains of the prepolymer simultaneously. The chemical structure and thermal properties of the resin were characterized by FT-IR spectrometer, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and gel permeation chromatography(GPC).[Results] The self-polishing coating prepared based on modified resin exhibited excellent flexibility and stable andlong-lasting copper ion release performance at a synthesis temperature of 100 ℃,a monomer dropwise addition time of 3 h,and a 1∶1 ratio of rosin to benzoic acid. After 260 d of shallow sea hanging plate testing, the coating surface showed almost no fouling organisms adhering, demonstrating significant marine anti fouling effect.[Conclusion]The above work provided a new material design strategy forconstructing controllable release environmentally friendly antifouling coatings.
