Abstract

Polyacrylate latex,an important type of water-based resins,has evolved significantly over nearly a century. This article offered a concise overview of its development. Itbegan with a summary of common modification types and preparation methods,including core-shell/multilevel structure latex,hydroxyl-containing polyacrylate latex,fluoro/silicone-modified polymer latex,nanocomposite/polymer latex composite systems,and hybrid systemscombining acrylate resin with other resins. The article then amply introduced recent technologicaladvancements,such as latex produced via controlled/living radical polymerization,latex incorporating bio-based monomers,latex with dynamic covalent bonds,and main-chain degradable polyacrylates. This review provided a scientific perspective on the industrial application and research of polyacrylate latex.
