[Objective] Obtain hydroxyacrylate latex with high gloss and high hardness.[Methods]Hydroxyacrylate microsphere latex were prepared by core-shell emulsion polymerization, using butyl acrylate(BA)and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate(EHA)as soft monomers,styrene(St)and methyl methacrylate(MMA)as hard monomers,and hydroxyl-containing compounds as functional monomers.The article focused on studying the effects of five hydroxyl monomers,namely hydroxypropyl acrylate(HPA),hydroxypropyl methacrylate(HPMA),hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA),caprolactone-modified hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HAM3)and caprolactone-modified hydroxyethyl acrylate(HA2), and their different hydroxyl contents on the size and stability of latex,and further explored the influenceof hydroxyl contents on the properties of polyurethane paint films prepared from the latex.[Results]A high gloss and high hardness hydroxyacrylate latex with a hydroxyl content of 2. 8% was successfully prepared,with a narrow particle size distribution and good compatibility with isocyanate curing agent, and a gloss(60°)of 91. 3 and a hardness of 2H film was obtained when combined with the curing agent.[Conclusion]Latex obtained with HEMA as the hydroxyl monomer had good stability,uniform particle size,and good compatibility with curing agent. With the increase of hydroxyl content,the hydroxyl sites reacted with isocyanate increased,the degree of cross-linking was improved,and the polyurethane film was denser and harder,but there was a general trend of increase in the size of the latex,and the gel rate increased,so it was necessary to do a careful control on the emulsification stability of the system inorder to get a better effect.
