Synthesis and Properties of Modified Polythiol Epoxy Curing Agent

Abstract

Using 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate(KH570)and 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate as raw materials and triethylamine as catalysts,we synthesized two modified polythiol curing agents P(SH)3-Si and P(SH)3-OH containing organic silicon units and hydroxypropyl ester units by click reaction,respectively. A series of high performance room temperature fast curingepoxy adhesives were prepared by using epoxy resin E51 as the main resin,2,4,6-tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol(DMP-30)as the promoter,and modified polythiol curing agents P(SH)3-Si and P(SH)3-OH as curing agent. The effects of addition of P(SH)3-Si on the properties of adhesive gel time,viscosity,hardness,tensile strength,shear tensile strength,and water absorption were studied. The results showed that when the fraction of P(SH)3-Si was 10%,the adhesive indicated excellent mechanical properties and good water resistance.
