Carbon Footprint Calculation Analysis of Architectural Coatings Based on Carbon Emission Factor Approach

Abstract

Based on the Carbon Emission Factor(CEF)method,this paper takes architectural coatings as research object,and calculates and analyzes their carbon footprints from the cradle to the gate in detail according to the whole life cycle assessment. The carbon footprint of architectural coatings at the cradle-to-gate stage is characterized and influenced by the comprehensive consideration of the carbon emissions from raw material acquisition,transportation,and manufacturing. It is found that the carbon footprint of architectural coatings is mainly concentrated in the raw material acquisition stage,especially closely related to the collection of raw materials and energy consumption during processing and production. The analysis in this paper can provide theoretical basis and technical guidance for reducing the carbon footprint of architectural coatings.
