Abstract

Powder coatings have attracted great attention from academia and industry dueto their advantages of no VOC emissions,high coating efficiency,and convenient storage andtransportation. In this paper the research progress of bio-based powder coatings was reviewed, and the use of renewable materials such as furan dicarboxylic acid,lignin,chitosan,isosorbide, and citric acid to prepare film-forming resins,curing agents and fillers was emphaticallydiscussed. It was found that the application of bio-based materials in powder coatings not onlyimproveed product performance but also complied with environmental protection trends. Theapplication prospects of bio-based powder coatings were proposed,providing theoretical basisand practical guidance for promoting the green and sustainable development of the coatingindustry.
