Synthesis and Antifouling Performance of Imitating Natural Products Phenolic Acid Ester Compounds

Abstract

A series of biomimetic phenolic acid esters imitating natural productsantifouling agents with good antifouling performance were prepared based on the reaction ofphenolic acid compounds and halogenated hydrocarbons. The structure of the synthesized compound was verified by 1H NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy,and the algae inhibition,anti-bacterial and marine field antifouling performance were tested. The results showed the 8 compounds all had good inhibitory effects on Chaetoceros curvisetus,Phaeodactylum tricornutum,and Chlorella vulgaris,(with an inhibition rate of up to 90%),and also showed good inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Vibrio coralliilyticus. In addition,six compounds were selected as antifouling agents to prepare antifouling coatings with resin andadditives. And four compounds showed good antifouling performance in marine field tests.Benzoic acid phenolic ester compounds had better antifouling effect than that of the cinnamic acid phenolic ester compounds.
