Preparation and Properties of Flexible Polybutadiene Based Polyurethane Acrylates

Abstract

To improve the suitability of the UV curable materials for flexible devices,six polybutadiene based polyurethane acrylates(PUAs) were synthesized by using hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)with unique carbon chain structure as a diol,two different 
structures of diisocyanates(toluene diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate) and hydroxyethyl acrylate. The effect of the relative molecular weight of HTPB and the type of diisocyanate on the mechanical properties and photopolymerization kinetics of PUAs were investigated. It was found that the aromatic polyurethane acrylate synthesized from the hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene with the highest molecular weight,toluene diisocyanate and hydroxyethyl acrylate showed the higher toughness and tensile strength. Furthermore,compared with commercial aromatic high flexibility polyurethane acrylate with similar structure,it had better mechanical properties,photocuring efficiency,high-low temperature resistance,hydrophobicity and apparent properties,showing broad application prospects in the field of UV curing coating materials for flexible electronic devices.
