Abstract

Waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid resins that combine the benefits of alkyd resin’s high bio-based content,air-oxidation cross-linking and acrylic resin’s fast drying,high hardness. Along with the current increase in environmental awareness and the increasingdemand for bio-based alternatives to fossil fuels,waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid resin had been widely investigated. In order to provide reference for researchers engaged in the development of waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid resin,the article introduced domestic and foreign methods for the preparation of waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid resin,which mainly included physical mixing method,graft co-polymerization method,and local condensation method. Meanwhile,the various methods mentioned above for the preparation of waterbornealkyd-acrylic hybrid resin were also evaluated. Finally,suggestions were put forward for thefuture development trend of waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid resin,such as physical blending method could be applied to prepare the hybrid blends of alkyd secondary dispersion and acrylic primary dispersions,as well as solution graft co-polymerization method could be used to prepare the acrylic graft-modified alkyd secondary dispersions.
