Abstract

In order to meet the anticorrosive design requirements of civil aircraft integral fuel tank, epoxy anticorrosive coatings for integral fuel tank was developed. The performance ofthe coatings on different kinds of aluminum alloy was tested, the shear strength of the coatingand the sealant was investigated, and the influence of the surface treatment process ofaluminum alloy substrate and the type of bonding primer on the compatibility of the coatingand the sealant was studied. The results showed that the coating had excellent applicationperformance on various aluminum alloys, and the shear strength with HM118 sealant meet thedesign requirements. Aluminum alloy surface treatment process had no effect on the peeling strength of sealant. PR1782 sealant showed excellent compatibility with the coating with orwithout bonding primer. The cohesive breaking strength of HM118 sealant was higher than thatof PR1782,and it should be used with bonding primer. The peeling strength of Naftoseal. MC-115 bonding primer was higher than that of PR-188 UNIVERSAL SEALANT.
