Preparation of hybrid hydroxyl acrylate latex and its application in waterborne wood coatings

Abstract

The self-crosslinked hybrid hydroxyl acrylate latex for waterborne wood paint was prepared by using the self-made aqueous hydroxyl acrylate secondary dispersion as macromolecular emulsifier and styrene,isooctyl acrylate,methyl methacrylate,hydroxyethyl methacrylate and diacetone acrylate as copolymers. The gloss,water resistance,drying time,sanding property and application period of the product were also analyzed. The results showed that when the mass fraction of the self-made aqueous hydroxyl acrylate secondary dispersion was 13. 2% in the hybrid latex system,the hydroxyl content of hybrid latex was 1. 5%,and the diacetone acrylamide(DAAM)accounts was 2% of the solid mass in hybrid latex,the prepared waterborne wood coating had the advantages of high gloss,good decoration,fast drying speed,good sanding ability,long activation period and good water resistance.
