Abstract

Organic coating may exhibit local defects such as cracks and micro-pores during the curing process or prolonged usage, leading to a significant reduction in the expected corrosion resistance of these coating. In recent years,Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) coating have demonstrated tremendous potential in the development of highly efficient and durable metal protective materials. The structural characteristics and recent research progress of MOFs materials were introduces, and their corrosion protection mechanisms within coating were described from four key perspectives:improvement of coating permeation resistance by special structure-modified nanofillers of MOFs,prevention of metal corrosion by corrosion inhibitors of MOFs,remediation of coating defects by self-repairing materials of MOFs,and construction of superhydrophobic coating by structural properties of MOFs. The composite anticorrosive coating based on MOFs have shown significant research potential and commercialvalue. Nevertheless, the large-scale commercial application of MOFs coating materials still needs to make efforts in many aspects, such as environmental considerations,cost-effectiveness,and product stability.
