Development of High Elastic Anticorrosive Coatings for Freight Train

Abstract

By using polyvinyl chloride(PVC)paste resin coupled vinyl acetate modified polyvinyl chloride paste resin(vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer), high elastic anticorrosive coatings was prepared for freight train,which always works in a harsh environment. By investing the effects of three PVC paste resins produced by different polymerization techniques on the viscosity,tensile property,impact resistance and cup drawing test results of the anticorrosive coatings,PVC paste resins produced by the seeded emulsionpolymerization process were selected as the main resins. By adding an appropriate amount ofchloroacetate copolymerized paste resin to the coating system,the impact resistance of thecoating can be improved without reducing the tensile strength of the coating. Furthermore,by using a special polyamide adhesion promoter,the adhesive strength of this coating to the freight train body had been improved.
