Abstract

In this study, the Zeolite imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)was in-situ grown on the surface of silane coupling agent modified basalt scale(BS)by one-pot synthesis to obtain the new composite filler(MBS@ZIF-8),which was then used to construct a new type ofanti-bacterial and corrosion-resistant epoxy coating(MBS@ZIF-8/EP). The morphology andcomposition of MBS@ZIF-8 was characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray diffractometer(XRD)and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR). The bacteriostatic properties against E. coli and S. aureus of MBS@ZIF-8 were investigated by plate countingmethod, and its effect on the corrosion resistance of epoxy coating was investigated byelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). The results showed that the preparedMBS@ZIF-8 composite filler had excellent antibacterial performance, with the antibacterial efficiency of E. coli and S. aureus more than 90%. Meanwhile the MBS@ZIF-8 couldeffectively increase the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the epoxy coating.Compared with the pure epoxy coating, the |Z|0. 01 Hz of MBS@ZIF-8/EP was upgraded by 3 orders of magnitude, and the hardness reached 6H. No obvious corrosion phenomenon wasobserved on the MBS@ZIF-8/EP coating surface after 1 080 h of neutral salt spray, showingexcellent mechanical and anti-corrosion properties.
