Research Progress in Antifouling Methods of Seawater Cooling System

Abstract

The growth of marine fouling organisms was a major problem for marineengineering equipment and facilities. For seawater cooling pipes,the growth of fouling organisms would thicken or even block the pipe,resulting the decrease of cooling efficiency. In recent years,researchers had explored many new pipeline antifouling technologies,such as physical antifouling method(ultrasonic antifouling method)and chemical antifouling method(quaternary ammonium salt and aliphatic amine). This review introduced and analyzed the principles,effects and environmental protection of these antifouling methods,and prospected their application feasibility.
