Abstract

To obtain phenolic epoxy resin with superior thermal stability,high toughness and exceptional adhesion,bisphenol A phenolic resins with varying phenol-formaldehyderatios were synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis. The obtained resin was modified withepichlorohydrin and enhanced with nano silica to prepare a nanoparticle reinforced phenolic-epoxy anti-corrosion coating,and the thermal stability and mechanical properties wereanalyzed. The results showed that,the new phenolic epoxy resin had better heat resistance andmechanical properties compared to the traditional epoxy resin,and better corrosion protectionperformance was obtained after the nano-modification. When the phenol-formaldehyde ratiowas 1∶1 and nano-silica addition was 3%,the hardness of the coating reached 5H,the adhesion reached 1 level,and no cracks generated in the bending test of the shaft bar with1 mm diameter. After 30 days of immersion,the impedance was still above 108 Ω ·cm2, indicating that the addition nano silica in phenolic epoxy resin could improve the mechanicaland anti-corrosion properties,and the optimal addition amount was 3%.
