Abstract

The high-emissivity infrared radiation powders were obtained by mixing alkalimetal hydroxide and its oxides with SiC. The powder was mixed with silicone rubber to prepareinfrared radiation coating via air spraying. The properties of the coating were characterized bymechanical, thermal, infrared radiation and heat insulation tests. The results showed that the radiation coating had high infrared emissivity(>0. 85)and showed excellent thermal insulating properties. In addition, compared with the coating containing 1 mm long carbon fiber, three self-developed radiation coatings enhanced by 500 μm chopped glass fiber had bettermechanical properties, interfacial bonding strength and surface morphology. Comprehensivelycomparing the three kinds of self-developed radiation coating, the coating A prepared by adding radiation filler composed of SiC and oxides of iron, aluminum and magnesium had the best effect:infrared emissivity up to 0. 93,tensile strength was 2. 89 MPa,elongation at break was 114% and tensile shear strength 1. 36 MPa.
