Abstract

In order to improve the mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, water resistance, storage stability, crack resistance of the coating, with potassium silicate as the film-forming base solution, which was modified by γ-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propytrimethoxysilane(KH-560) and silica sol, compounding with polydimethylsiloxane(PTMS) dispersion and toughening latex, the waterborne inorganic zinc silicate coatings was prepared,The corrosion resistance and corrosion mechanism of the coating were studied using electrochemical method. The results showed that in the salt spray process, the new corrosion products at the coatinginterface changed the micro-current coupling ability and provided a barrier for the diffusion of chloride ions, which played a blocking role to reduce the corrosion rate of zinc, improved the coating service life and the corrosion resistance.
