Silicon dioxide microcapsules with fluorosilane(FAS13)as core material and silicon dioxide grafted with ultraviolet absorbent as shell were prepared by emulsion condensation polymerization. The microcapsules were blended with silicone latex,which was coated on the surface of cotton fabric to obtain a superhydrophobic and UV protective fabric coatings. The morphology and particle size of microcapsules were observed by SEM and TEM,and the water contact angle and UV protection performance of fabric coatings was tested. In the meantime,the weather resistance,wear resistance,high temperature resistance and acid and alkali resistance of coatings were also measured. The results showed that the best percentage of the microcapsules in fabric coatings was 45%(incorporated with 5% UV absobent),and the water contact angle of the prepared coating surface could reach higher than 150° . Moreover,the obtained fabric coatings provided good weather resistance,high temperature resistance,acid and alkali resistance and wear resistance. At the same time,the ultraviolet protection factor(UPF)of the fabric coatings could reach 111. 2,which showed excellent UV resistance.
