Preparation and Properties of Fluorine Modified UV Curing Six-Arm Flame Retardant Polyurethane

Abstract

Trifluorooctyl octanol(TEOH-6), isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI), triethano-lamine(TEOA)and hexachlorocyclotriphosphonate were used to prepare fluorine-containing diol(DE-TEOH). A six-arm flame retardant monomer was synthesized by using p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and sodium borohydride. Isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI), polycarbonate diol(PCDL)dimethylolpropionic acid(DMPA),fluorine-containing diol(DE-TEOH),pentaerythritol triacrylate(PETA)were used as the main raw material to synthesis —NCO semi-capped linearpolyurethane. Then the six-arm flame retardant monomer was added into the polyurethanesystem and the fluorine,nitrogen and phosphorus composite modified water-based UV-curing six-arm flame retardant polyurethane(UV-WFPU)was made by a soap-free reverse emulsificationprocess. The structure of UV-WFPU was characterized by IR and 1H NMR,and the propertiesof the film were studied. The effect of amount of fluorine-containing diol and incorporation ofsix-arm flame-retardant monomer on the structure and performance of the film wasinvestigated. The results showed that compared with the traditional polyurethane,the incorporation of six-arm flame retardant monomer could greatly improve the flame retardantperformance of the film,and the limiting oxygen index(LOI)was increased by 45%. With the increasing of DE-TEOH,the water absorption rate of the film was descreased and the contactangle and the thermal stability were increased.
