In order to improve the adhesion of epoxy coatings on fiber reinforced polypropylene composite material,laser and plasma surface treatment methods were used. The effects of laser and plasma surface treatment on surface morphology,surface roughness and contact angle of fiber reinforced polypropylene composite were studied in detail with hyperfield microscope,roughness tester,contact angle tester and adhesion tester . The effects of these two surface treatments on the adhesion of epoxy coatings on composite was also investigated. The results showed that the adhesion of epoxy coatings on the substrates could be significantly improved by both treatments,from less than 1 MPa to higher than 8 MPa.
