The factors affecting the stability of corundum-based water borne spraying coatings for foundry were studied based on the investigation of refractory filler,thickener, suspension agent,binder and dispersant as well as the testing of the static stability,dynamic stability and filtration performance of the coatings.The results showed that the types of corundum materials,thickener(hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose), suspension agent(attapulgite), binder(polyvinyl alcohol), dispersant(sodium methylene dinaphthalene sulfonate)all affected the stability of corundum-based waterborne spraying coatings,among which corundum material and thickener content were found the most significant factors. Considering the static anddynamic stability,the corundum-based waterborne spraying coatings with good static stabilityand dynamic stability could be obtained by use of tabular corundum as refractory filler and 0.7% of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose,5% of attapulgite as suspension agent,1.5% of polyvinyl alcohol as binderand 0.4% of sodium methylene dinaphthalene sulfonate as suspension agent.
