Preparation and Performance Study of Highly Ultraviolet Reflective Pigments and Thermal Control Coatings

Abstract

In this paper,regarding the problem of high absorption in ultraviolet band of traditional thermal control coatings,Y2Ce2O7,nano-ZnO and SBA-15 were used as raw materials to prepare the thermal control pigments with high ultraviolet reflectivity by high temperature sintering,which was then mixed with inorganic binder potassium silicate or organic binder epoxy-modified silicone resin to form thermal control coatings with low absorptivity/emissivity ratio(αs/ε), especially the coatings with ZnO/SBA-15 and potassium silicate showed reflectivity above 0.90 in UV band and αs/ε below 0.08. The microstructure,optical properties and weatherability of the pigments and thermal control coatings were
studied. The results showed that the thermal control coatings provided excellent optical properties and high environmental adaptability.
