In order to solve the problem of easy to decompose and low fire resistance ofpolystyrene boards,a self-leveling mortar was prepared by using salt gypsum and fly ash andapplied on the substrates,and the effects of the self-leveling mortar finish on the thermal stabilityand fire resistance of the polystyrene board were studied. The results showed that the gypsumfinish layer could wrap the polystyrene core material well during the heating process,delaying the thermal decomposition of the polystyrene board,and the residual carbon of the polystyreneboard coated with the finish layer was increased by 4.3 times compared with the polystyrenesheet alone. The peak heat release rate and total heat release decreased as the thickness of thefinish layer increased;the temperature rising rate of the polystyrene board decreased with theincrease of the thickness of the finish layer,and the time to reach the fire endurance was prolonged with the increase of the thickness;during the whole heating process,the thickness reduction of the finish layer of 2 mm,3 mm and 4 mm were 50.82%,41.98%and 37.52%,respectively . The surface hardness decreased as the thickness of the finish layer increased.
