The determination of water content in coatings materials can be used to determine the water content of raw materials for coatings，the quality control of the production process and the water content in final products. At the same time，the water content is also an important factor used for calculation of the volatile organic compounds（VOC） content in aqueous coatings materials. This paper reviewed the current status of test standards and methods for water content in coatings materials，and introduced the scopes and limitations of existing standards and methods，providing a reference for enterprises and testing institutions.
