When the high-speed EMU runs in winter in the north area，the bogie，which is an important part of the vehicle，is prone to icing in snowstorm weather，resulting adverse effects on braking effect and signal transmission，and threatens the safety and stability of the vehicle operation. Anti-icing coatings can provide anti-icing function by reducing the surface energy of materials. In this paper，the hydrophobicity and anti-icing performance of several commercial anti-icing coatings were comprehensively analyzed and compared through designing performance experiments. Then，a kind of coatings with excellent performance was selectedbased on process suitability for on-site vehicle performance test. The test results showed that the use of anti-icing coatings could effectively reduce the adhesion of ice on the coatings，and was more favourble to the melting and peeling off of the ice. Finally，the application prospects of this kind of coatings on railway vehicles were discussed based on the experimental results.
