Preparation and application of isomeric tetradecanol ether phosphate

Abstract

The synthesis process of isomeric tetradecanol polyoxyethylene ether phosphate is explored, and the application of the product in antirust coating is discussed. The specific research items and results are as follows:1. The n-heptanol is used as raw material to synthesize the isomeric tetradecanol by the Guerbet method. The optimum process is investigated and the hydroxyl value is determined to be 242.13. 2. The isomeric tetradecanol and ethylene oxide are used as raw materials to react under alkaline conditions to form the isopropanol polyoxyethylene ether (C14H29O(CH2CH2O)7H). 3. The isomeric tetradecyl ether and phosphorus pentoxide are used as raw materials to explore the optimal reaction conditions of the isomeric tetradecanol ether phosphate. The surface tension is 2687 mN/m, CMC is 0.25g/L and HLB value is 1086. The product is mixed with liquid paraffin and the time for separation of the lower layer with 10 mL of water is 540 s. Compared with the isomeric tridecyl ether phosphate, the surface performance is better. 4. The most suitable emulsifier for emulsion polymerization has a carbon number of 14 and an ethoxy number of 7. It is applied in the preparation of antirust emulsion paint. The test result shows that the water resistance, salt water resistance and impact resistance of the cured film are excellent. It is expected to replace the imported isomeric tridecyl ether phosphate.
