In order to have an in-depth and overall understanding of the technical progress in the waterborne 2K epoxy/amine system, this article describes the development of the typeⅠ and Ⅱ waterborne 2K epoxy/amine system, summarizes their film-forming mechanism and discusses the improvement of the waterborne 2K epoxy/amine system and curing agent. Specifically, the physical and chemical modification of the type Ⅰ epoxy resin, the technical progress in type Ⅰcuring agent and type Ⅱepoxy resin and curing agent have been investigated respectively. Meanwhile, the innovative epoxy-acrylic hybrid technology and its application have been introduced. It is revealed that the epoxy/amine system with good initial water resistance, compatibility with zinc flake, long pot life and high cost-effective properties will lead the way.
