As a new type of transition metal carbon/nitride two-dimensional nanomaterial,MXene is attracting research interests in the field of organic coatings. In this review,based on the indroduction of the type,preparation method and properties of MXene,research progress on the applications of MXene in electromagnetic shielding coatings,anticorrosion coatings,and multifunctional coatings were summarized. Reports indicated that MXene could endow electromagnetic shielding films/coating with prominent performance,efficiently improve the corrosion resistance of pure epoxy resin coating or polyurethane coating,and demonstrated good development prospects in multifunctional coating. Nevertheless,research on the interaction between MXene and various coating components still lacked depth and breadth,which affected the spatial distribution regulation of MXene in coating. In the future,researches should focus on the large-scale production and surface modification of MXene,expand the research scope of MXene and its application in coatings field.
